VR Goggles and 3D Printed Airplane Food to Change Your Travel Experience
Are you fond of travelling to different places? If you are, you will definitely feel excited with the latest innovations. Expedia, a travel provider, would believe that the reputation of food being served in the plane during long flights would gradually change as time passes by. The results appear to be appealing if digital technologies will take control of the different kinds of travel such as vacations. Innovations like virtual and augmented reality goggles may occur, which can change our experience during flights and how we choose our destinations. Due to 3D printing, even the food available during the flight could also be customizable.
Expedia is currently one of the largest online travel companies in the world and was founded in 1998. It has released a news report with a title “The Holiday of the Future Report”. Every year, this British company serves millions and millions of travelers, which has absolutely helped them grow and conclude that the “Holiday of the Future” will be full of luxury and technology.
Certainly, they have painted quite an interesting picture about the future travel. According to their news report, in year 2035, you will be on-board a pilotless airliner. A robot named Brenda will be the one of service to you that speaks more than 100 different languages. It offers you a platter of food, which is based on the dietary requirements registered in your electronic implant.
It may sound too good to be true, but Expedia claimed that the current technological trends can possibly result in such a future, since personal choices and customization will become more important. According to Expedia’s Gary Morrison, they have built a large network of nodes that they call the Travel Graph, which can help identify patterns that can improve the online travel experience.
Moreover, the selection of a travel destination is based on different types of media. Studies show that 42% of Millennials in UK agree that their choice of destination is influenced by the photos posted on various social media sites.
VR goggles have become more popular, and through them, we can already experience our vacations even before going to the destination itself. It becomes easier to determine the place where you want to go to. By visiting various locations in VR, people can already possibly try visiting various locations.
In the near future, there are still other innovations that will improve the travel experience, but food 3D printing is perhaps one of the most eye-catching ones. Through 3D printing, organic and custom meals with any dietary requirement can be served during flights. This innovation will surely become successful because airplane food is criticized almost all the time. Passengers may even design their own menu before the flight.
It would absolutely be a huge achievement as complex and portable food 3D printers are being created. One of them is the Focus 3D printer by byFlow, a Dutch innovator that was used to serve nine-course dinner in London during the summer. Soon enough, this will happen during flights, and the only challenge is the transportation of the food 3D printers, as well as the food supplies.
